Getting around Groningen & The Netherlands by Public Transportation

Public transport in the Netherlands is accessed via a common ticketing system called the OV-chip card. These cards can be purchased at vending machines at any travel/train station. Single-ride tickets are also available.

Groningen by bus
Via 9292.nl, you can plan bus & train rides from and to various dutch destinations.
For bus/tram/metro travel in the Netherlands, a minimum of 4 euros travel credit is required to check in.

Trains in the Netherlands.
The major train operator in the Netherlands is the NS (Nationale Spoorwegen). Around Groningen you can also make use of the Arriva train operator.

Via 9292.nl, you can plan your travel via train. Alternatively, you can visit NS.nl or arriva.nl directly for information on travel/arrival/departure times.

For the NS trains, a ticket or a minimum of 20 euros travel credit is required to check in.
For Arriva, a ticket or a minimum of 10 euros travel credit is required to check in.
